Meet the staff
Sales and Marketing
I'm your Pusherman aka Brand Manager. I've been around since the days of Session Ale in bottles, when the tap room was Chris and Mary Ellens backyard, and the office was Front Street Coffee. I can usually be found in my car listening to WMBR while looking for a parking spot. My Top 3 Emcees of all time are Rakim, Black Thought, Facemob.
As the first Brand Ambassador, Claire wanders the metro Boston area. Spilling knowledge about session beer, while telling people about the identity of Notch is her game. Not often will you find her without a Session Pils in hand talking to someone who does something somewhere. Do not feed after midnight, do show pictures of your dog.
You can find Kylie chatting up Boston about how awesome Notch is, and twisting your arm to try out session beers. In her spare time, you will find her running for beer, and carrying beer up mountains. She may be small, but she will drink you under the table, in liters.
A not-so-silent partner of Notch since it's inception, Mary Ellen joined Notch full time in July 2016 to make sure the trains ran on time. She now oversees sales, marketing, and sometimes boring paperwork for Notch Brewing and the Notch Taproom & Brewery.
18 years in the beer business working with brands from Brooklyn to Narragansett. A Brand Manager with Notch since 2015. Spreading the session beer gospel across Massachusetts, New Hampshire and beyond.
Brewer. French fries, emo cries, sanitize.
Founder, Brewer, Skee Ball Mechanic.
Been bartending with Notch since they first opened the Tap Room doors. Been drinking Notch since it first hit the shelves, and have been promoting it in various wateringholes I have been slinging drinks in. Long time bartender but have recently turned my attentions to the production side of things - learning the brewing trade under Chris and Brienne. You can still catch me behind the bar a couple times a week and hopefully soon I'll be able to pour you the beer I have made!! Cheers!
Favorite Notch beer: infinite jest
I’m the stylin', profilin', drink slingin’, IT workin’, playlist makin’, constantly yappin’, North Shore accent havin’, wheelin' and dealin' son of a gun. WOOOOO!
When she's not pouring beer, she's telling corny jokes or hanging out with her collection of vintage kitchen appliances; apparently her subconscious is a nerdy dad. Lindsey has lied (and will continue to lie) about the severity of her cat allergy to compensate for how ridiculously terrified she acts in their presence. She is looking forward to jury duty.
Amusing the astute, irritating the iniquitous, and distracting the disconcerted since 1960.
Composition student by day, bartender by night. Notch is not just my place of work, it is my vacation away from scribbling nonsensical phrases and melodies down on wrinkled scraps of paper. A transplant from Western Mass, I ended up walking into Notch on my first night as a Salem resident. I am so grateful that was only the beginning, and I get to keep coming back!
Bartender, devoted lager cultist and probably one of the top 30 coolest people who work at Notch. You can find me at the taproom or at Craft Beer Cellar in Swampscott, I'm the one who looks like a store-brand Game of Thrones character. I'm fully prepared for doomsday and we can compare bugout bags if you show me pictures of your dog. Sean P was the nicest in the game, try to argue.
Tap Room GM/Dolly Parton fangirl/90's action film enthusiast. Liz can usually be found behind the bar or behind her laptop, trying to inspire the Notch employee masses to greatness by sending them GIFs and inspirational quotes. Chat her up, and maybe she'll show you her "True Lies" tattoo. Maybe.
Matt Patricia looking dude who is 1 part barback, 1 part child counselor, 2 parts geek and 3 parts sports enthusiast.
Matt teaches high school students history by day and will teach you the difference between Czech and German pilsners, bartending at the tap room by night. A lager loyalist, the only haze he seeks is a cloudy memory after a few too many 10P’s. You can usually catch him yelling at his Golden Retriever, Gatsby, on the streets of downtown Salem. Chat him up, and maybe he’ll show you his “Lager is Life” tattoo.
Bar back by day, bar back also by night. Wastes too much time honing his skeeball craft-and uses his remaining time crafting dope coffee beverages. He loves Notch so much he decided to get married there. Closing thoughts: beer, coffee, skeeball, mad love.
All around good guy, from Promo Wizard to Taproom DJ to Shift Manager. Has a tattoo of a mystical dragon. Played bass in bands you either love or hate. Will talk your ear off about records if you're not careful. Probably likes The Smiths a little too much.
Born and raised in Texas, but moved to Massachusetts as fast as he could. Married to the most amazing woman in the world, Laura. When not helping to manage the tap room, Robert enjoys traveling with his wife and exploring this great country. Day baseball games at Fenway Park in the summer might be their favorite activity. He also enjoys running, as it’s the one activity that keeps him feeling young.
Doorman/ocular patdown specialist. Barback, bar front, bar none, and sometimes barbarian. Voted #1 pretzel heater upper. Part time ninja, part time robot car that transforms into a ninja. Crappy taco artist. Catch me being booed at our Wednesday skeeball tournaments.
Farms stuff, cooks stuff. Use your blinker.
Toasting your pretzels since July of 2017. Living every child’s dream as a mad cookie scientist by weekday and pretzel slinger by weekend. Usually found dancing to classic rock while scooping your veggies, or reading poetry to the sound of the ticket printer.
While Meagan may only make an occasional appearance behind the bar, when she does, she'll be sure to Instagram about it. And most of the time, you'll like it. After spending way too much time throwing her money away in NYC, this hometown homegirl came back to her Salem roots and couldn't be happier to be a part of the Notch family.
